Today, the key provisions for the cultural sector under the “Proposal for Armenia” program were published. These provisions are aimed at revitalizing cultural life, preserving national heritage, and fostering a free creative environment.
Culture is one of the most important pillars of our national identity, historical memory, and value system. It is impossible to build a prosperous and developed state without a clear policy for preserving, developing, and transmitting culture to future generations.
Below, I have highlighted several key provisions:
1. The state must generously finance and provide technical support to the cultural sector, encouraging art and individual creativity. However, it must act not as a “feudal lord” who owns the field, nor as a mere controller, but as a caring partner for whom results — including long-term ones — matter. The state must keep the field of art and creativity free both from direct encroachment and from the dangers of bureaucratization and stagnation.
2. Unite the efforts of the best specialists from all fields — both in Armenia and in the diaspora — regardless of political or personal affiliations. Establish an effective, viable system for preserving cultural heritage. We are all guardians of our cultural heritage.
3. The state’s greatest partner in preserving our ancient treasures is the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church, with all its worldwide structures, its experience, and its authority.
