It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt grief that I learned of the passing of Nikita Pavlovich Simonyan — a true legend of national and Soviet football, an Olympic champion, and the greatest striker in the history of Moscow’s Spartak.
His contribution is immeasurable not only to Armenian football, but to the entire history of Soviet and world football. Nikita Pavlovich was a true Armenian who, having achieved remarkable success on the global stage, consistently upheld the honor and pride of our nation wherever he went. His name will endure in the memory of future generations as a shining symbol of dedication, mastery, and the highest human qualities.
On behalf of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia and on my own behalf, I extend my deepest and most sincere condolences to his family, loved ones, colleagues, and to all who admired, respected, and cherished the legacy of Nikita Simonyan.
May his bright memory live on forever, bringing comfort to all those for whom he was an example and a source of inspiration.
