At the invitation of the president of the National Olympic Committee of Iran, Kiumars Hashemi and “Ararat” Armenian cultural organization the president of the National Olympic committee of Armenia, Gagik Tsarukyan, was in the Islamic Republic of Iran with a two-day working visit. Many representatives of the local Armenian community and high-ranking officials came to welcome the president of NOC of Armenia at the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport. Gagik Tsarukyan was first received by the president of the National Olympic Committee of Iran, Kiumars Hashemi. The Iranian high-ranking official held a warm reception for his Armenian colleague. During a warm and friendly conversation the sport leaders of the two countries discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral cooperation. They reckon that both Armenia and Iran have a great potential in sport. There are sports where Iranian and Armenian athletes are the best in the world. The both countries have fully equipped athletic facilities corresponding to modern requirements which allow to deepen the cooperation in sports between Iran and Armenia. Gagik Tsarukyan and Kiumars Hashemi signed an agreement on bilateral cooperation. The parties undertook to realize experience exchange programs, organize mutual visits of athletes and coaches, conduct training camps and jointly fight against doping.
