Dear Compatriots and Sports fans,
I heartily congratulate us on the last days’ glorious victories of our athletes. Yesterday evening, Artur Aleksanyan, Champion of the World and Europe as well as the Olympic Games, won the Final of the European Wrestling Championship over his opponent, becoming a 7-time champion of Europe.
Malkhas Amoyan, one of the leaders of the Armenian national team, defeated his opponent at the European Greco-Roman style wrestling championship held in Bucharest, the capital of Romania, and won the title of the Champion of Europe for the third time.
Wrestling, however, was not the only winning sport these days. After an 8-year break our athlete Alexandra Grigoryan won the title of a champion 2 days ago during the European Weightlifting Championship held in Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria.
And last night 67 kg weight Gor Sahakyan won another gold medal and was declared a double champion of Europe.
These victories give a feeling of joy and national pride to the Armenians all over the world, as there is no greater pride than the one of hearing our national anthem being played and seeing the Armenian flag being waved in the most prestigious arenas of the world.
Today, more than ever, the Armenian people is of great need of these victories. These victories prove to the whole world that the will and the strength of Armenians are unshakable, and the achievement of victories is continuous.
The coming week will be full of sports events, and we still expect many medals from our athletes. I wish success to our athletes who haven’t competed yet and hope that we will enjoy the joy of victory for many times.
May God bless and protect us all…
